Lunetiers du Jura
When I applied for « les lunetiers du Jura » contest, edition 2008, whose theme was “One brand three characters”, I based my work on the link between the material and the feeling that you get from it.
Thus each pair of glasses is a combination of two materials, the first “gives the character” of the object (hence linking the feelings of the user to the product) and the second deals with the product range.
The approach which involved looking at materials, rather than looking at shape was more important for me since glasses have quite “classical” shapes, already related to the target market.
The increased area of contact surface with the nose allows for better comfort for the user.The replacement of classical hinges with integrated hinges made from shape memory brass core brings the product to life, as the glasses will unfold as soon as they come out of their case.
