The project
I was contacted by WHAIM, a Cambodian based global design consultancy, to help them design furniture for a coffee shop/travel agency in Phnom Penh. This chair was part of the design submitted and manufactured in small production for their client.
My role
– Ideation and design
– CAD, Render and Engineering drawings
The process
Meeting clients was a key part of the project, it helps to identify the design language that would seduce the most their customers, the environment where furniture would be displayed, and the brand to impersonate.
After deciding on a realistic timeline, a couple of preliminary sketches were produced to validate the basic aesthetics of the chair.
A first CAD model was made and rendered to discuss the design further in details. Design details for manufacturing were then added and reviewed by the client with their associate joiner.
A final set of drawings were produced and a prototype made before launching a small scale production.
